Our theory courses are specially designed to be informative, enlightening and entertaining. No dry theory here! We make full use of the latest technology to demonstrate the principles of navigation in as commonsense and practical way as possible. Professionalism and patience are our watch words. We aim to provide first rate instruction, hence the maximum 2 persons per course.
Course dates are flexible and tailored to your individual requirements. We make the maximum use of weekends and Bank Holidays so that you minimise the amount of time off work.
We do not list course dates except when we have specal offers. We run courses on the dates that suit you.

Courses.
Basic Safety and Navigation Course.
The course is tailored for anyone new to sailing, motor boating, sea angling and diving as well as experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.
The course is designed to give students an awareness and knowledge of basic navigation techniques and safety in just 16 hours. Course topics include: charts and publications, safety, engine checks, buoyage, tidal awareness, visual and electronic navigation, pilotage, rules of the road, anchoring, weather forecasts and passage planning.
This course is the perfect stepping stone to the more in-depth theory courses, or to courses on the water such as the Intermediate Powerboat, Start Yachting, Helmsman or Day Skipper courses.

Day Skipper Theory.
This course is for beginners and crew and assumes the student has no previous knowledge. The course covers basic seamanship and a comprehensive introduction to chart work and navigation. It gives would-be skippers the knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day, as well as an introduction to navigating at night.

Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore Theory.
A more advanced course, taking students to the level of theory knowledge required for the Yachtmaster Offshore practical exam. Although the course includes some revision of the Day Skipper course it is not an entry-level course. You should be capable of working up an EP and doing a Tidal Height calculation before attempting this course.
